Taking its name from the Greek word for a thresher’s circle and backed by olive and wild oak trees, Villa Aloni has been cleverly designed with a semi-circular swimming pool to remind guests of the threshing circle of former times. Built over two levels, the bedrooms are next to each other on the upper floor, with the open plan living, dining and kitchen on the lower floor; all rooms have doors out onto a terrace from which to admire the views. The furnishings and decoration inside follow a rustic Greek theme with exposed stone walls and wooden beams. Villa Aloni enjoys a quiet, rural location typical of Kefalonias countryside but it is only a short drive to the resort of Skala, with its restaurants, shops and sandy beach.

It is not difficult to see why Lourdas has become one of the most popular beach resorts on the south coast. Clinging to the shoulder of mount Aenos on Kefalonia, whose comforting bulk shelters it from inclement weather and whose lower slopes provide a marvellous vantage point from which to enjoy panoramic sea views. Views which extend over the Ionian sea, to the east, where the Greek island of Zante crouches on the horizon, whilst to the west, the craggy outline of the Liakas peninsula marks the end of the bay. The area has a number of excellent beaches, often with a choice of tavernas or bars right on the water’s edge, ranging from Lourdas’ own to neighbouring Kanali and Trepazaki. We are therefore delighted now, to be able to offer a pair of nearly identical, quality three bedroom villas, each with their own private infinity swimming pool and garden, hidden amongst the lush vegetation above the Ionian Sun hotel complex on Loudas beach. Ionian Beach and the neighbouring Ionian Sands have the added advantage of being managed and maintained by the hotel. This is great for those who want the complete seclusion and privacy of their own villa, but may, occasionally want to socialise around the hotel’s swimming pool and bar terrace or use other hotel facilities. Access to the villa, form its own private driveway, is along a short pathway and up a short flight of steps to the front door, from where you can either enter the house, or follow the paved walk-way around to the sunbathing terrace and raised, shaded “wrap around” veranda, overlooking a marvellous free-form, infinity-edged swimming pool that appears to flow off through the pine trees to the Ionian sea below. Surrounded by mature gardens and dense vegetation, Ionian Beach is extremely secluded and is not overlooked, adding to the sense of an oasis-like tranquillity and unique holiday.

On entering the cool interior of the lounge, dining and kitchen area, your attention is immediately drawn to the homely and comfortable nature of quality fittings and furnishings. A number of thoughtful touches and attention to detail will ensure that you relax immediately into your holiday. The lounge and dining area has large sliding patio doors out to a raised, shaded veranda for “al fresco” dining, which not only overlooks the pool, but has stunning sea views. The kitchen has everything needed to provide a gourmet meal and should you happen to find yourself behind the sink, then a perfectly placed window with a view will instantly revive you. Just along from the lounge and dining area, is a bright and cosy en-suite twin bedroom, complete with doors out to the shaded veranda and pool. Upstairs are two attractive, well appointed en-suite bedrooms with private balconies and sea views. The double is worthy of special mention, as it boasts the unusual feature of a corner bath, again with a window that allows you to shower with superb sea views.

Ionian Beach together with its neighbour Ionian Sands are a great choice for a group of friends or families who want to be close to each other, yet still have a degree of independence. For occasions when it is required, an intimate, wooded pathway links the gardens of both properties. All in all Ionian Beach is a perfect choice for a relaxed and peaceful holiday, close to the beach and resort facilities.

The hillside on which the villa sits, is at the head of a valley in an area known as Ratzakli on Keflonia. To the east is the laid back beach resort of Katelios with a good selection of fish tavernas on the water’s edge. To the west, bordering several kilometres of sandy beach, is the more cosmopolitan resort of Skala. Right in the middle, between these two coastal towns and just below villa Stafida, is Kefalonia’s renowned turtle nesting beach of Mounda or Kaminia.

Tucked in amongst the wild olive and cypress trees, close to Old Skala, Villa Stafida is an oasis of calm and decadent indulgence. First impressions as you approach the property is that it is more of a mansion than a holiday home. Your attention, although distracted by the view, is soon drawn to the large infinity edged swimming pool, surrounded by an expanse of terrace with accommodating sun loungers just waiting to welcome you. A wide shaded veranda with comfortable sofas, whose cushions just seem to be inviting you to sink in, runs the full width of the villa. Designed and built in a fashion that effortlessly blends traditional stone facades with ultra modern, cool interiors, the villa will appeal to those seeking a high degree of comfort and style. The lounge, kitchen and dining areas are open plan, with a stunning Italian designed, kitchen with black granite work tops as the focal point at the centre of the villa. Three sets of sliding patio doors lead out to the shaded veranda, pool terrace and outdoor “al fresco” dining area. The low level, white lounge suite is at the far end, again with easy access to the outside and with great views from the entire room. All four tastefully furnished bedrooms are upstairs. They all face the sea and have been cleverly designed so that the beds in each room face the balcony doors and the view beyond. One of the most attractive features of these rooms are the high exposed pine beamed ceilings and individual balconies with panoramic sea views.

Spartia is a quaint, picturesque village lodged between the folds of gently rolling, verdant hills that makes up the Liakas Peninsula. Blessed with charm, character and charisma the village has a couple of of tavernas, a bakery and small shop or two. The surrounding area is also well known for many excellent, way side restaurants as well as beaches like Trapezaki, St.Thomas and Spartia as well as being close to Kefalonia’s capital city of Argostoli.

As you leave the village on the beach road, a rough, narrow farm track leads you through the cork oak and olive groves to the splendid villa Minos. A number of striking features materialise as you approach. Bold colours that really make the house stand out – yellow ochre painted walls contrast brightly with the rich burgundy tones of the louvered shutter. As you arrive, the eye is drawn to the stunning, vibrant hues of the striking landscape. Clear blue sky, deep blue seas, sparkling clear water in the swimming pool, rich, green rural tranquillity and the dramatic, craggy back-drop of Kefalonia’s Mount Aenos.

The large inviting swimming pool is surrounded by a wide paved terrace which is both secluded and open to those amazing views. The front of the house has a delightful shaded “wrap around” veranda, ideal for “alfresco” living and afternoon naps on a sun lounger !

The style and design of the interior is an eclectic blend of modern comfort with traditional materials such as hardwood, chiselled stone, marble and wrought iron. The capacious lounge and dining area has large sliding doors that allow the light and view to flood in. A beautiful custom made, open plan teak kitchen is equipped to satisfy the most discerning chef, or equally to provide bacon sandwiches for a morning after the night before !

Next to the lounge is an attractive bedroom, with direct access out to the terrace and swimming pool, which is handy for anyone who enjoys a quick dip in the pool before breakfast. A smart marble staircase leads up to a landing with a view ! Doors and windows lead straight out onto the wide sun terrace that adorns the front of the building, as do the two bedrooms on the first floor. Both of these have their own private balconies as well. The fourth bedroom is a discreet annexe, set amidst the vineyard, in the garden just 15 metres from the house. Self contained with its own en-suite and patio with the same delightful views. There is an extra charge of 250 euros per week if this bedroom is required.
