Flights to Kefalonia

One of the most frequent questions that we get asked is about the availability of flights to Kefalonia and what should they cost ?

Unlike our more popular neighbouring islands of Corfu and Zakynthos, the supply of direct charter and “low cost” flight seats to Kefalonia is quite limited. This fact means that there are some important implications that should be taken into account when considering travelling to Kefalonia.

Our advice is to always book early. In our many years of experience, flight seats rarely ever get cheaper. In general, the later that you leave it, the higher the price that you will end up having to pay for the flight.

There are currently three main charter flight companies and two “low cost” airlines operating from the U.K. to Kefalonia. Thomson, Thomas Cook and Monarch Airlines operate regular weekly charter flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays during the May to October period. Easy Jet offers services from Gatwick only on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays (peak season only), whilst Ryan Air offer services from Stansted only on Mondays & Thursdays. These services operate during the April to October period. There is also the year round scheduled service to Athens, provided by airlines like Olympic, Aegean and British Airways. This involves changing planes in Athens with a connecting flight to Kefalonia, which is only operated by Olympic Air.

As a guideline to prices, if you book extremely early, you can get a one-way flight seat for around £40 on certain low season dates. Generally, the average price of a return flight seat to Kefalonia is £350 per person. If you book late and it is peak season, the price can be as high as £550 for a return flight seat.

To summarise our message is…… Book Early to save money !!
